Mifflin's Salt Water Taffy was started back in 1969 by a single mother and her two sons, ages 12 and 5. What was she thinking! The original store was located in the Balboa Fun Zone, and served sno-cones, cotton candy, popcorn, licorice, fudge, and caramel corn, as well as salt water taffy. Every summer was spent by all three at the beach working in the store. For 6 years the family also managed the hamburger stand next door.
After one move, and 38 years later, the store is still owned by the son, Dennis. The Mom, Bobbie Mifflin passed away October 9th, 2006. We will miss her!
And If you didn't know, if you stop in to the store and say a Bible verse, you will get a free piece if licorice!
